Our Mission
Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASA) are community volunteers, just like you, who stand up and speak out to help abused and neglected children.
Our CASA program belongs to a network of nearly 950 community-based programs that recruit, train and support volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the juvenile courts of Greene, Unicoi, and Washington counties, and the City of Johnson City.
-
Our programs are designed to further our mission and provide much needed services for abused and/or neglected children in our service area.

Stephanie Rasmussen CASA volunteer since 2014
" I got involved with CASA because I wanted to give these kids a chance.
To be the person they could count on to fight for them when their parents are not able to.
The court system can be intimidating, I can't imagine how the children feel. But the support you receive from the CASA organization is amazing. They'll help you every step of the way."
Our Impact
The average cost for CASA of Northeast Tennessee to provide a child with a CASA volunteer is $95 a month. The average cost of foster care in Tennessee is $8,000 per month. If CASA can reduce a child's time in foster care by even 1 month, the return on investment is clear. According to the Independent Sector and the University of Maryland's Do Good Institute a volunteer hour is valued at $31.80.
